Part 2 of my old stuff day posts is a bit of a cop-out. Technically these posts are my "oldest" because way before blogger offered the option to create actual "pages", I wanted to use the blog to track everything about my armies, gangs, teams and warbands. I found a little hack where I limit everyone from seeing any posts prior to 2008 so they wouldn't show up in my archive list and I then set about creating "post-pages" for the various forces I have as of January 1st 2007. Not all forces have a "post-page" created for them yet, but eventually they all will. I've also included a "current state" percentage towards being painted/based - broken out by colour coding to describe who's done the painting (green; all me, yellow; some of my stuff came partially painted from my brother, or I received assistance in building/painting, or red; for some of the forces which I commissioned out)
Within these "post-pages" I try to incorporate as much varied info as I can. Everything from why I started collecting them, the background and history to the force (including any fluff I have developed/written up), game records (ie. win/draw/loss), awards won, composition & development notes, pictures, etc.
I guess these are my posts that I think receive less traffic than they deserve. There's lots of cool info in there, but they rarely get any comments. Any suggestions you may have to get people to visit them more often, please let me know. Maybe it's the face it's not obvious they are links? I recently did a large update to my Novamarines page, and two of my blood bowl teams (orcs and undead) are similarly fully fledged. My Spyrers page definitely needs an update since it only has half the gang in the photos, while I should really get my act together and get some games in with my Pit Slaves since their page is looking rather bare.
Well I hope this prompts you to take a look at any of my force pages that interest you. Please feel free to comment as I'm always looking for feedback.

200th post giveaway!!
Wow! Post #200. This calls for something special. I have a prize for each of the five GW games I play frequently. I just want these to go somewhere they'll be used, from the hint you should be able to guess what the model is. If you want it, post your guess as a comment and the first person to get it right will win the miniature.
Simple, right?
40k - These guys work in a team and are generally associated with vehicles named after mythical creatures. WINNER: ctreleheb
WHFB - He wears warpaint, rides a beast with tusks and his head can explode! WINNER: Kuffeh
Blood Bowl - These bits will let you make a star player who only plays for two extremely unlikely teams. WINNER: eriochrome
Mordheim - He carries a weapon with an axlike blade and a steel spike. WINNER: Fajalheretic
Necromunda - A visitor to the underhive armed with sword and shield who almost wants to be shot at. WINNER: Mordian7th
Good luck!

Week 4, Week 5: Tristan - Marksmen (mordheim) (catchup) painted
I also got around to painting a couple quickies to try and catch up. These are a couple old metal handgunners I got with a bunch of stuff my friend gave me. Even though I prefer crossbows in mordheim, I figure at least if I find any I will have models to represent. They are quite terribly painted, but that's ok as they fit in with the rest of my terribly painted talabheim mordheim warband. Basically I painted on a white undercoat, where they weren't going to be red I used 2 coats. Then I painted the quarters red, the faces & hands flesh, the stocks & bags leather, the beards and metals black, then boltgun metal on the guns and helmets. Yellow for the ribbons and then a wash of gryphonne sepia over everything and they're good to go. This puts me back on track for tomorrow, not sure what's up next...

2009 year end.. random-ness.
Well it's been a while since I posted. I have been working on stuff - however I had planned to wait until after sealing most of it to post up pics. Unfortunately there was a mistake when I booked the hobby room and instead of getting it last weekend - I have to wait until January 8th :\
I have mostly been painting little things. I finished up my Pit Fighter for warhammer quest, I painted up a Scum and a couple beastmaster rats for necromunda, as well as getting a 40K objective (oil drums) painted up. I also got 5 bowmen painted up for my Mordheim warband - as we've started a Mordheim campaign at Heavy Support Games - I am super pumped about finally getting to play some Mordheim. Also have been getting stuff ready to prime (though still failed on the Warg Riders).
I also got a few more necromunda models ready (minus sealing) to use by giving them a light "wash" with a wood stain. This includes a Telekinetic Wyrd and a Goliath Juve (will use with genestealer cult or as hired gun) that my brother painted. I used the stain on the Scummer as well - but he counts as painting points.
I have a bunch of pics from some necromunda games I never got around to posting - and probably won't because I don't remember much of the game anymore, and I'll be waiting until the New Year to post pics of what I have painted recently since (at least the wood stain dipped models) look way too shiny without the matt sealer.
I also found some christmas spirit and gave away a bunch of old junker models to some folks who would put it to use. One is a couple tactical squads of 2nd edition marines to a kids 40K club (will definitely post when I get some pics of what they have painted) and the other is some really junky marines and some cardstock templates to a family whose son is interested, but can't afford to really get him much (and definitely not drop $100+ dollars without knowing if he's interested).
Overall it's been a busy december - but not as busy hobby wise as I'd like. With the hobby room booked and *confirmed* for early january I hope to get a good start to 2010. I've completed 215 of my 250 point goal - 86%.
Goals for 2010;
* Complete 250 painting points
* Get my Orcs & Goblins to a useful level - fully painted (at least 1,500)
* Get my Space Sharks to a useful level - fully painted (at least 1,500)
* Build a collection of Space Hulk maps for my travel space hulk.
* Play LOTS!
* Paint a mini a week, see our local groups blog - Weekly Minis.

Lizardman Mordheim Warband... 100% complete!!!
That's now a fully painted gang/team/warband for each of my favourite three specialist games. Finishing up the Spyrers and the Torne Bane Flaming Ears really gave me motivation to get a fully painted group done for each game.
Without further ado - the final member of my Lizardman warband - the Saurus Totem Warrior.
I took him a tiny step further than the other members - I magnetized his left arm and gave him three options (originally was going to just be two, the axe and a shield arm) until I realized one of the plastic shields I bought for my salamanders has the arm attached (the others don't) and I might as well just use it as is instead of chopping off the arm just to attach it to a different arm. So I cut up the old metal shield arm a bit, removing the shield connector and just gave it a dagger.
This way if I can only afford a sword for him, I can at least still give him a second weapon and remain WYSIWYG.
da pics!

Axe
Next up... I'm split between painting some more Space Sharks (have a "best of" list drafted up at 1,500 points - lots more painting to do, and it's what I'd like to concentrate on in terms of 40K) or getting some Wolf/Warg riders done (thus pushing my painted WHFB up to around 1,000 points) - I'm leaning towards doing the wargs as they should be dead simple to paint.

more lizzies
Well I didn't have anything else primed yet (still need to do a bit of GS work on some bits) so I painted up another couple models for my Mordheim lizardman warband. Both are skinks, one is a skink priest with bone helmet, javelins and a skull in hand. The other is a chameleon skink with blowpipe.I gave the priest a few layers of drybrushing before the standard devlan mud wash.
I used washes in splotchy fashion on the chameleon.
Had them both painted in about 4 hours.

Bits & Bobs...
I've finished up a couple pieces over the weekend just to get back in the swing of painting.
First up was the wood elf scout champion I wanted to paint up for Warhammer Quest, as you can see I've tried to be ambiguous about what type of elf he might be. The blues could mean he's a high elf, but I've tried to even that out with some natural green so you aren't really sure.

Second was the easiest 5 painting points I've done. A kroxigor for my Lizardman Mordheim warband. Really just needed to be tabletop quality, so he's basecoat + a wash of devlan mud and that's it.

more mordheim pics
Here's some pics of my second mordheim warband. They are essentially some of my brother's old 4th edition saurus & skinks, with a few character models I have managed to hang onto, including a kroxigor and saurus champion (have two arm options, may need to magnetize)
skink priest (std bearer), 2 skink champions, 1 chameleon skink, 1 saurus champion, 1 kroxigor

first mordheim warband pics
Took some pics of one of my Mordheim warbands today (Talabheim, so I could use various warbands). I put these guys together to test out painting techniques for bone cloth (my human blood bowl team will be painted similarly, halved instead of quartered red/bone) and they could probably use a wash of devlan mud or maybe paint on some dip. At this point I think I've decided to dip the blood bowl team anyways, so I might as well test the one I have on these guys as it's probably too dark.

Decidedly tabletop quality paint job. The bases are really what make them look decent. I started off with 2 each of crossbows, halberds, handguns, spears and swords. After a few games, I realized I preferred the spears over halberds and crossbows over handguns. So I built 3 more of each, figuring at least I can use the halberds/handguns if I end up getting some for free. I've also drilled holes in arms and backs and I have about 17 shields and a crossbow/handgun on pins to customize their equipment a little. I should've been more careful about the heads as I would probably never equip ranged troops with helmets, but oh well.

Then I put together a couple heroes and a marksmen armed with a long rifle (not that I ever see myself affording the 200gp monster, but I figured the box came with a long rifle so I might as well build one)
I've got models for 5 archers (plastic brets I can convert), a metal halberdier, 2 metal handgunners (all three gifted to me), a captain with pistol and metal sword and a couple spare bodies I might just make a couple more swordsmen out of - maybe with two swords each. That should give me an excellent selection of units, now to find some willing opponents!

Talabheim
background: I chose Talabheim for a couple reasons. First and foremost the colours matched what I had planned for my human blood bowl team, and I wanted to test out ideas - also I knew I was painting Novamarines next so practice on quartering was helpful. Secondly there are no specific lists for Talabheim, leaving me open to use nearly whatever human list I want (and leaving open the option to write a list!).condition: 26/30 models complete tabletop standard (87%)
