VOGEN campaign - round two

During the week Eric & Mike had fought their battle, it was apparently very close with Mike just squeaking a win out. Ian tried a couple of times to have someone fight him as the Arbites but the timing hasn't worked out. Apparently he d6'd it and the Arbites kicked him out of the precinct in short order.

I convinced Ian to play a small 500 point game as the NPC nids attacking myself - and offered my space hulk genestealers for him to use - as an excuse to use the Space Sharks Kundera model I just posted about. Even with Preferred EnemyFurious Charge, Kundera was whooped in short order by the broodlord led 'stealers. However giving all my heavy bolters hellfire rounds meant that everything wounded on 2+ except for the typhoon missile launcher.
The turning point in the game was probably his outflanking genestealers attacking my land speeder, he literally rolled a cube of dice, had 15 or more hits and rolled a single 5, to glance (adrenal glands for furious charge) and failed to do anything more than stopping it from shooting next turn. The landspeeder and razorback did the business in the end. I have some pics from this game on my phone - this was the only decent one.
So here's how the map sat before we did another round of pins.
22 - Tristan, 11 - Tyler, 10 - NPC, 8 - Josh, 6 - Graeme, 2 - Mike, 0 - Eric, 0 - Ian
So, onto new pins. First up Eric attacked the Arbites (playing orks, Eric is rolling a d6 and going in a random direction). Ian decided to get on the board with the Trading House. I took the Theatre House which will open access to the North Road Gate next turn (re-roll reserves - yes please!) also figuring I have enough territory I can force others to attack me. Josh wasn't around but we figured he'd take the west Pleasure District (this could change). Mike attacked the NPC nids in the Basilica, and the NPC attacked right back through the Railhead Depot!
24 - Tristan, 11 - Tyler, 10 - Josh, 10 - NPC, 6 - Graeme, 2 - Mike, 0 - Eric, 0 - Ian
Eric couldn't play today (I think Mike was interested in playing him as the Arbites) so I gave Mike his battle vs the NPC nids. This would be huge - possibly knocking Mike back to zero.

It was a kinda epic really fun 2000 point game. I'm not an experienced 'nid player by any means but who wants the NPC to win? Mike took a ton of guardsmen, some grey knights, 3 leman russes and 3 sentinels. I had mostly bigger bugs, my space hulk genestealers, some tunnel swarms and one swarm of gants with spinefists. It's too much to give a play by play but some of the better parts include;
1. The LR Executioner, shooting at a broodlord, missing and blowing up the damaged (but still active) LR the broodlord was assaulting, thereby killing the broodlord!
2. The carnifex losing it's last wound to lasguns
3. Swarms with spinefists killing a grey knight
4. Guardsman Bob who refused to run from the Hive Tyrant, regardless of grey knight terminators dropping like flies next to him
5. 58 guardsmen, 3 terminators, 1 grey knight killed by Tyranids
6. 20 gants, 10 genestealers, 9 warriors, 6 ripper swarms, 2 ravenors, zoanthrope, carnifex, hive tyrant and a Leman Russ killed by Daemonhunters (lol)

In the end though Mike still had plenty on the table and was going to have another turn of shooting before my last reserves came on and I was happy to concede the game - I might suggest making the jump to Witch Hunters - Sisters would count the Basilica Imperialis as 4 VPs. This leaves us with the below, and maybe some movement from Graeme & Tyler or Josh if he decides he's not happy with securing the Pleasure District - maybe wants some revenge!
24 - Tristan, 11 - Tyler, 10 - Josh, 8 - NPC, 6 - Graeme, 4 - Mike, 0 - Eric, 0 - Ian
Had some fun with a couple games - won the right one and lost the right one.

VOGEN: map based, cities of death campaign at 2HD

Last week we began VOGEN, a map based campaign at Two Headed Dragon. It's based on the old GW Vogen campaign but using the Cities of Death rules. The first week was a lot of moving pins around and sorting out opponents for matches. Ian decided to force his way into the Arbites Precinct on the third turn, as Eric used the Water Purification Plants ability to attack Mike directly. That left Josh, the NPC 'nids and myself, with the NPC across the map from me, so I built up some territory and took the Palace of Peace. Josh gambled I'd wanna attack the 'nids instead of him, but naturally I decided to force the issue and attack Josh. During the week a couple more guys joined in, so Tyler and Graeme were added. You can see the territories claimed and attacks launched in the map below.

Before any games were played, the standings are;
18 - Tristan, 12 - Josh, 11 - Tyler, 10 - NPC, 6 - Graeme, 2 - Mike, 0 - Eric, 0 - Ian
Josh and I were the only one's to get our game in so far - and that was today! I'm gonna have to push these guys to get some more games in - maybe I'll see if Tyler wants to attack me since I can't move any pins until we're all together again.

Anyways, because I attacked Josh in the palace grounds, we actually just played a standard game of 40K on a board we setup with mostly hedges and we lined up the palace along one side as a barrier. It was 1,850 points, pitched battle/capture and control. My Dealer's Accommodation would let me take a Callidus assassin - but I'd written up a list and forgotten so I didn't bother. Josh's Spaceport Complex allowed him to deep strike with any unit he put in reserve, and his Gibbet Hill allowed him a preliminary bombardment (technically not in these set of rules, so we counted it as a space marine chapter master orbital bombardment).

I brought Calgar w Sternguard in DP, 2 X riflemen dreads, 3 X tactical squads in rhinos, 3 X heavy bolter/typhoon landspeeder, and a dakka pred. I deployed first and reserved only 1 tactical squad in rhino.
Josh had a captain w command squad, epistolary, termie squad, MM dread, ironclad dread, 3 x tactical squads w pfists, 6 scout sniper w heavy bolter, 5 man devastator w ml and a whirlwind. He put everyone in reserve to deep strike except the libby w terminators, the devs & WW.

Josh then stole the initiative;
Turn 1; Josh gated his libby and terminators near my objective, ran up his ironclad and shot with his scouts/devs/WW. Killing 3 marines and stunned a dread. I dropped my pod in near his objective, and swarmed his terminators. The scouts were quickly toasted by 2 heavy flamers and some hellfire rounds while more hellfire + calgar destroyed his devs. Pretty much everything else shot at the termies and I killed 3 of them - not as good as I hoped but then Josh failed the morale test and fell back.
Turn 2; Josh failed every single reserve roll he had to make, so another short turn. His termies had to keep fleeing. His tactical squad charged one of my rifleman dreads while his ironclad charged a combat squad of marines on my objective. His shooting killed a couple sternguard. The ironclad killed two marines and two more died from no retreat wounds. In my turn my sternguard and calgar destroyed his whirlwind, a dread managed to kill another termie and I charged some marines into the huge combat between his tac squad and my dread. Everything else blasted ineffectively at the ironclad as it was standing over my objective.
Turn 3; Josh turned around and made every reserve roll - most of his scatter rolls were beneficial, except for one and he rolled a 5 on the mishap table meaning delayed. His command squad and MM dread shot at my predator - stunning it, a tactical squad shot at a rhino, wrecking it. His ironclad destroyed a landspeeder in close combat and the other huge combat he killed 3 marines, but I passed my break test. His remaining termie and the libby attacked a rhino with a combat squad inside, stunning it. I made my reserve roll for my tac squad and they raced onto the board to rapid fire his recently arrived tactical squad to bits. My combat squad in the rhino stunned last turn jumped out and gunned down the last termie and he chose to retreat with his libby. Calgar used his orbital bombardment but failed miserably. One landspeeder and a riflemen dread shot up his captain and command squad, while the other ran from the ironclad.
Turn 4; Josh deep strikes his delayed tactical squad and mishaps again - I place them in the far corner where I doubt they will have much impact on the game. His libby tries to smite my combat squad but only kills one. His command squad & MM dread explode my predator, while he was about to charge my tactical squad with his ironclad, except my sergeant had melta bombs so he decided against it. In my turn, one land speeder wastes his libby, the other keeps hammering at his command squad. I throw 2 surviving marines into a rhino and park it on my objective. A combat squad of marines with a melta gun and melta bombs tries to deal with his ironclad - but only manages to shake it. My reserve tac squad charges into the melee quagmire in the middle but doesn't manage to break it up much.

** I've either compacted the events or we mistook the # of turns, but we thought it was turn 5 and Henry rolled a 1 for the game to end. I had my objective under control and Calgar the only model near his objective **

This wins me the other Palace Grounds, and four more victory points. No other games have been played yet, so that leaves us with
22 - Tristan, 11 - Tyler, 10 - NPC, 8 - Josh, 6 - Graeme, 2 - Mike, 0 - Eric, 0 - Ian
Hopefully Tyler or someone controlling the NPC can get another game in with me, while Ian resolves his fight with the Arbites and Eric & Mike sort out their game.

random necromunda pics

My "new" laptop at work has bluetooth so I've been able to pull some pics off my cell phone. They aren't the greatest quality, but I have several pics of the various necromunda setups we've had going at Two Headed Dragon over the past few months. I think the biggest thing I've learned about necromunda terrain is to make it random - if you check out the pics you can see we've combined the card scenery that comes with the box set in strange ways, which always resulted in a better looking table.

Necromunda @ 2HD... Day 5

Got in to 2HD on Friday, managed to squeeze a game of Necromunda in before I had to bounce. Played a straight up gang fight (again!) against Josh using my Escher gang. In the end I won, because Josh simply decided to Bottle. I'd taken three of his gangers and his leader out of action, his heavy was out of ammo and he'd split up his gang, so I took them on piecemeal. I think this is why I end up winning Gang Fights, because with their whole gang my opponents split up their gang (as opposed to keeping the few you might get in a raid/ambush/etc. all together) with my high movement I can trick them by deploying in one area and then quickly scampering all together in a single direction to take on a single group of gangers. If he'd deployed all together I don't think the results would have been so pretty, as it was most of his gang were not in a position to influence the game for many turns.

Due to the difference in gang rating, I got a fair amount of experience out of it, but only two advances. I actually ended up rolling skills my spyrers couldn't use so we house ruled I could roll again. Ended up with Disarm for my Orrus (can you say buh-bye Heavy Plasma Gun ;) ) and my Yeld can now Rapid Fire his Laser Gauntlets. Also managed to capture one of Josh's gangers so now I have one each of Ian/Josh's gang members, though Ian (using the new enforcer rules) has essentially replaced him (for free??) so not sure if we'll bother doing a rescue mission.

Karl & Ian were having a gang fight as I was leaving, not sure of the final result, though both seemed to be giving as good as they got. Hopefully next week can get more than a single game in.

Necromunda @ 2HD... Day 4

Got a couple more necromunda games in at Two Headed Dragon yesterday.

First was a straight up gang fight (argh!) vs. Ian's enforcers that actually went swimmingly for me. His entire gang was out of action by the end of the game. Everybody got an advance or two, and it bumped my gang rating above 1200.

Second we played Lord of the Spire with 2 cawdor gangs (Karl, Phillip), my spyrers (we adjusted the rules to let me play) and Ian's enforcers. Looked like I had the game in the bag, but some brilliant shooting from Phillip and a timely shot at my base marker took my entire gang out of the game. Afterwards my Yeld got a chest wound (ouch!) and my Jakara died outright (DOUBLE OUCH!). Knocked my gang rating down by around 240 points. It's gonna be tough fighting with only four guys for the rest of the campaign (I've only gotten 1 of 10 outright kills towards my vow - I see myself getting completely scragged and having to re-start at some point).

Great fun though, been taking pictures of the terrain every week even just on my shitty camera phone. Once I get them off I'll update these posts with some pics.

Legend of 2HD Gamers pt2 + BFG

We all got a little delayed first week of the month, so we met up the next Friday to play some games and let the GK judge our painting for the Lo2G competition at Two Headed Dragon. We all had a busy April so no more games were really played. I'm in bold. Also due to the GK program being canceled we are going to end this competition a month early due to loss of competitors. Looks like it's down to whoever gets best painted next month, or whoever wins the game between Philip and I. We could still end up tying, and if that happens will probably split the pot evenly.

Month 2 scoring;
4 Tristan - fully painted, 1 game
6 Philip - fully painted, best painted, 1 game, 1 win
0 Ken

For reference (Grey Knight)
0 Karl

Current standings;
11 Tristan - fully paintedx2, best painted, 3 games, 1 win
11 Philip - fully paintedx2, best painted, 2 games, 2 wins
4 Ken - fully painted, 1 game

For reference (Grey Knight)
3 Karl - fully painted

I also got to play my first game of BFG today. We played a 3 way with a huge dust cloud in the middle. Quite a fun game, don't know why I always hesitated so much previously to give it a try.
Thinking about making a Tyranid fleet and finding some really cheap way to construct it. Any ideas?

finally updates... pt3

Ok I know I'm not supposed to use a flash but it's getting late and I couldn't get decent pics of the trolls without it. These guys are my April entry for the Lo2G @ Two Headed Dragon. At least this lets you see the colour scheme and details and not just a brownish blob. These guys were really quick as well. Here's my paint list.
  1. black wash base
  2. sepia wash on stomach and leading to arms
  3. while wet, devlan wash around sepia
  4. devlan wash rest of troll
  5. repeat steps 2-4
  6. ogryn wash entire body
  7. thraka wash in 'healed' spots, followed by blue wash and another thraka wash
  8. devlan wash scales
  9. ogryn wash again
  10. paint metal black, then boltgun metal, then black wash
  11. loincloths are baal wash x2, leviathan wash, baal wash

Legend of 2HD gamers - pt1 B

The scores have been posted for the Lo2G competition at Two Headed Dragon. I expect these scores to increase as with the campaign (I'll keep posting about the campaign too) we can keep playing games (afaik) until the next deadline. I'm in bold.

Month 1 scoring / Current standings;
7 Tristan - fully painted, best painted, 2 games, 1 win
5 Philip - fully painted, 1 game, 1 win
4 Ken - fully painted, 1 game

For reference (Grey Knight)
3 Karl - fully painted

I know I alway say this, but I want to start getting pics of these events. Maybe even do up a batrep or two.

Goblin Archers (+30pp)

I remembered not to throw out the list I made for painting these guys so here it is. I really only used washes on these guys, the only solid colours were the metallics, black and bleached bone. Using this method I managed to paint all 30 of these guys in probably just over 6 hours work (not including prep) which equals out to almost 5 guys an hour. I'd definitely recommend experimenting with a gray undercoat if you haven't tried.

Prep
1. tape over washer.
2. trim off tape with scissors.
3. cut off slot.
4. super glue to base.
5. white glue and dip in sand/rocks.
6. prime grey with Armory.

Paint
1. black wash base
2. paint eyes white
3. gryphonne sepia wash over eyes, flesh and hair
4. alternate splotches with other skin tones (colour group a)
5. skin tones on all flesh (colour group a)
6. paint body clothing twice (colour group b)
7. shade body clothing (colour group c)
8. paint body clothing (colour group b)
9. boltgun metal on front of boots, shoulderpads, quiver bottom
10. black wash boots, armbands, arrow feathers, shoulders twice
11. paint quiver twice (colour group c)
12. paint bows (colour group d)
13. paint eye pupils black
14. paint teeth bleached bone
15. drybrush base bleached bone

Colour groups
a) gryphonne sepia, ogryn flesh, baal red, thraka green
b) baal red, thraka green
c) devlan mud, ogryn flesh
d) gryphonne sepia, ogryn flesh, flesh wash, devlan mud

Here are some quick pics of the goblin archers I painted up for the Lo2G deadline. Sorry for the lower quality.

Couple shots of the whole unit

Legend of 2HD gamers - pt1

First deadline for Lo2G at Two Headed Dragon was last night. This is the fantasy version of the tale of four gamers. I got my 30 gobbo archers painted up (I will post pics of them later tonight), and I played 2 games (we are using the Scourge of the Crown campaign rules - found here [http://www.bfgclub.org.uk/Scourge_of_the_Crown_rules.pdf]) so started by rolling up three territories, where I got 2 Stone Circles (+1 wizard of any value OR +1 magic item up to 50 points) and a Road (+100 points). This let me add a level 2 shaman with the staff of sneaky stealing to my army. The rest of my army was a goblin warlord with a couple magic items, 5 river trolls, 25 orcs with shields, 15 black orcs with shields, the 30 goblin archers and a spear chukka.

1st game was against Philip and his Wood Elves. He had lots of wardancers, some dryads, 10 scouts, 10 glade guard, 5 glade riders and a hero and mage. Game seemed to be edging his way (he kept running his scouts out of charge sight of my black orcs and pelting them with arrows) however my shamans staff meant I was able to stop his mage from using the forest moving/attacking spell for the first few turns, which left his wardancers stuck in the forest until I was able to charge them with my trolls. My trolls proceeded to rout his wardancers (after he killed my shaman - who had miscast and lost a wound) and destroy them pursuing, then do the same to his dryads. My goblin archers saw off his glade riders in one good round of shooting. In the end I got a marginal victory, and took the Town as new territory (woohoo extra special choice!).

2nd game was against Ken and his High Elves. Ken is just learning so this game was a bit of a mess, as I forgot about his horses attacking in one turn and we ended up having to cut off before my turn four could happen, however my black orcs had seen off his lion chariot and a unit of lothern sea guard. Also had his Silver Helms locked with my orcs, about to be flank charged by my trolls, and also while they were stuck in the middle my spear chukka killed 3 with a good shot (coming from the side, as he had 9 and we lined them up in one long rank). Ken decided to forfeit cuz he had to get home, so I picked up another territory (another road, woot!) bringing my total up to 5.

In total my trolls got 2 experience points (need to remember about these in game!!!), my black orcs got 2 and my goblin archers got 1. Other stuff I forgot sometimes through these games being my first games with O&G were; bonuses to waaagh magic from units in combat, elves cause fear to goblins (made my general useless a couple turns), calling a waaagh for one turn and the change where shields give you a better save in close combat.

Quite pleased with this night (tons of fun!) and also with my army. I will eventually want to change from goblin characters to orcs or black orcs. Also very impressed with my trolls, I'm going to want to keep my warlord with them in future as well I think. I should also have a second spear chukka for future games and was pleased with their performance. Gotta give them an orc bully though as Philips hero mauled the crew in my first game. Also I need to build some movement trays for the guys with magnetized bases.

Now.. what to paint up for next month's deadline. I really like how my goblins turned out (only used washes and metallics over grey undercoat and they look awesome - hoping I picked up best painted for this month). 3 trolls would make the points limit. Might be easier than painting another large batch of guys.

I'll post the scores on Sunday once our Grey Knight posts them in the Two Headed Dragon forums.

ps. I also traded Philip some Wood Elves for an Escher gang and some Space Marine bits, so unfortunately my mini queue #'s are going up. Le sigh ;)

2HD Blood Bowl league - day 14

Had another game vs. Matt at Two Headed Dragon, where I managed to scrape out a win 2-1 in the last turn of the game - very lucky as the kick scattered right into the hands of my second thrower after Matt scored the tying touchdown. I did a little better at not being too excited, but still made some mistakes. Some key points, Matt managed to injure all three of my black orcs enough to make them miss the next game and my new one got a niggling injury, my troll outright killed one of his linerats, my second thrower gained all his experience from a casualty and a touchdown, and then Hurt Warn'r stepped into the game for the last three turns, intercepted Matt's pass and coolly proceded to throw a touchdown pass and deservedly picked up the MVP!

Also convinced Matt he has to show some progress in painting otherwise he loses inducement $, important since my team rating is a pretty monstrous 175.

2HD Blood Bowl league - day 13

I missed day 12 last week. Made it in this week for a short time and had one game against Matt. By the end of the first half, I was winning 2-1, but game ended 2-3 for Matt. I had good luck in the first half and terrible luck in the second (including my troll managing to gimp himself on a 3 dice block!), but I have no one to blame but myself. The biggest thing I learned today was that I need to keep excitement separate from playing, I had managed to recover the ball with a black orc after a scrum behind my line of scrimmage. Instead of taking the safe route and pulling a couple guys back to surround the ball carrier, I tried to make a go for it roll and failed it twice! This definitely lost me the game and I need to try and stop making excited stupid decisions.

2HD Blood Bowl league - day 11

Played two more games at Two Headed Dragon tonight. Both 1-2 losses to Matt, neither game was really eventful. Both did a fair amount of casualties in the second game. My troll had to sit out the second game (Matt's moment of glory for the day) and I have 3 guys sitting out next match. A blitzer and my lineman with block both gained advances, skills to both. Tackle for the blitzer and Dauntless for the lineman.

2HD Blood Bowl league - day 10

Got two games of Blood Bowl in at Two Headed Dragon tonight. A 1-3 loss to Matt (brutal game, total of six casualties) in which I made a number of bone head mistakes - the biggest of which had to be forgetting my apothecary and letting my star goblin take a -1 MA injury!! :'( Four of my guys did get advancements though, one blitzer got mighty blow, the other strip ball, just gave the lineman block and gave the gobbo jump up, hopefully fooling some forgetful players. Second game was a 2-1 win over Karl (even with 450K of inducements to him), scoring twice with one of my blitzers, yet causing no casualties. No more advancements, but I finally rolled well for the gate, and currently have 130K to spend. I might need to hold off spending it to keep my team value down.

Tale of 2HD Gamers = Victory

Whew, what a fun day. Played two games of 40K, losing both. Took first place in the challenge (yay!) and I wanna congratulate Thomas for making it interesting. Had me worried when he started pulling out objectives, I was definitely glad I wrote up the fluff and built terrain. Being the only two entrants who completed the challenge we split the 3rd place prize. I ended up with the AoBR box (to be ordered) and $10, while Thomas has $50 to work with. I really found this motivating and hope I can get some minis for the Tale of 2HD Gamers - WHFB.

Update - calculated the final scores, I'm in bold.
Month 4 scoring;
9 Thomas - fully painted, 1 game, 1 win, 2 objectives, 2 terrain pieces, best painted
9 Tristan - fully painted, 2 games, 1 objective, 2 terrain pieces, written fluff

Final standings;
29 Tristan - fully paintedx4, 7 games, 2 wins, 3 objectives, best paintedx2, 2 terrain pieces, written fluff - complete
24 Thomas - fully paintedx3, partially painted, 3 games, 2 wins, 2 objectives, best paintedx2, 2 terrain pieces - complete
6 Ian - fully paintedx2 - incomplete
5 Ken - fully painted, 2 games - incomplete
4 Josh - fully painted, 1 game - incomplete

For reference (Grey Knight)
16 Karl - fully paintedx4, 2 games, 2 wins - complete

Then played a great game of blood bowl with Karl, orc vs orc. It was pretty much a ruckus from the get-go. I stomped my way down the field, losing and re-gaining the football before scoring in the last turn of the half. Karl flung his gobbo for a touchdown. Fouling and the ref were much in evidence. My troll didn't go stupid once this game, and caused two casualties. Karls troll however spent much of the game stupid, costing him 2 wasted re-rolls failing his loner test, and at least two Blitz actions. Late in the game I had a failed attempt at using Hail Mary Pass with Diving Catch, and Karl started passing the ball upfield. He managed to get it to a lineman who I managed to get a tackle zone on by blitzing his troll with mine, and running my thrower in. I did run a lineman in but he fell. Karl went to blitz my thrower and failed his go for it without any re-rolls. I got a second chance at the Hail Mary / Diving Catch combo. Gobbo still managed to scuffle it. Game ends as a tie, 1-1. Awesome.

Tale of 2HD Gamers - the day of reckoning!

Well the day has arrived. Last night I packed up my Novamarines to bring into Two Headed Dragon for the final date of the Tale of 2HD Gamers challenge. I also took my point form fluff and fleshed it out to proper paragraphs (for the most part) with some added detail. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I've also got my completed terrain piece made for the store (hopefully scoring a bonus point just to lock it up) but I doubt anyone will have a camera - which is disappointing as I thought the army looked great all setup on some terrain at home.

Fingers crossed I'm walking outta there with a new AoBR box - hopefully Eng (one of the employees) has his AoBR there so I can leave with two sets of Space Marines.

For the Emperor!!

2HD Blood Bowl league - day 9

Another thursday night @ Two Headed Dragon. Played a single game against Matt. He managed to score in the first turn with his star gutter runner, MA 10 with the sprint skill! I had some pretty unlucky dice rolls early on (and I think my troll had 2 turns where he wasn't stupid!), however made it back scoring with a pass to a blitzer, and the highlight - fouling his #2 (the gutter runner) straight DEAD! He had an apothecary so this took two 61+ rolls. Ahh #2 - you were so hated I got a round of high fives. Nearly brought a tear to poor Matts eye. Second half he only had 9 guys to setup, and then his kick off landed in the hands of one of my black orc blockers - who promptly caught it (needing a 6!) and led a push all the way down the field (killing outright another skaven), scoring my second touchdown. By the end of the game Matt had 5 players left, most prone or stunned.

Gained me an advancement for my thrower, the black orc scorer and a lineman who had a casualty and got MVP. Gave the thrower hail mary pass (my star gobbo has diving catch - hehe), block to my black orc (duh) and I gave the lineman guard, just for something different. Also gained 50k gold, which I'm gonna save because I really think I should get another thrower since Hurt Warn'r has +1 agility and hail mary pass - he can put the ball where I need it - but he's bound to attract some negative attention.

Sorry for the crappy pic. Short term plan is to get lots of games in. Longer term I'm planning to treat myself to 2 bolter scouts and 2 bp/ccw scouts (hopefully ebay turns up something cheap) to round out to 15 and really give me lots of options as to arming them. As well once I'm happy with my scratchbuilt drop pods I'll eventually want two (one for dread, one for tac) so even setting up first I could not have a model on the table. One I get those final scouts painted up I will also go through the whole army for at least a round of highlights.

2HD Blood Bowl league - day 8 ... DUNGEONBOWL

Was at Two Headed Dragon again tonight - for something different I played 3 games of dungeonbowl with Matt - we had a blast! We laughed so hard at the random happenings. By lucky fortune I won all three games. We both lost many many players to the warp, and many players got kicked out by the ref for fouling. The second game we actually played down to the last player.

I would highly recommend giving this a try - the rules are available on GW's site, and includes dungeon tiles to print out. We definitely intend to do a dungeonbowl league when the current league finishes. It was possibly the most entertaining games I've played - and they don't necessarily need to take 2 hours as you just play to the first touchdown.

2HD Blood Bowl league - day 7

Got a couple games in at Two Headed Dragon tonight. Played Matt first, we tied 2-2. He did an astounding amount of damage to me. One blitzer died outright and a black orc & a linemen both missed my next game. I gave Fungus the Loon a try in this game but used him all wrong, knowing the rules for secret weapon now I know better. My gobbo again was the star, scoring both touchdowns. My thrower got the MVP, which now that he's making completions is less important for him as for linemen who don't get points as easily. I gave my gobbo the Diving Catch skill. I also bought another new blitzer to replace the one who died.

Next up I played another Tristan (wtf!) who had a human team. I had some fairly jammy luck on kick offs, getting a couple perfect defense and a blitz. With only 10 men, took this game 4-1, managing to get a touchdown with a blitzer and a linemen on top of 2 more for the gobbo. Was nice to finally see someone else's big guy stand around for a while - though it really really hurt him this game. The gobbo was a star, flying through the air, and even causing a casualty when blitzed. He won MVP for this game as well, and is now sitting at 27 points. One more touchdown is a further skill for him, and I'll have my 2nd black orc and extra linemen back for my next game.

All in all, much more successful than my previous outings. Earlier I did lots of damage but didn't score. This time I scored, but in some cases didn't do enough damage. Have 50K back in the treasury now and my fan factor has gone up to 7.
