Stackable Necromunda Terrain ('munda table in a box)

Earlier this year I completed the paint & build of my mantic deadzone scenery - and in doing so a number of thoughts came to mind.  First was an interest in home built scenery again, and I started using pinterest to research and find different ideas.  Second was "here's another huge box I will need to store this scenery while it's not being used".  I already have four big boxes marked "necromunda" and this would be another one.

During my pinterest hunting, I spotted this from Descent of Angels - and I immediately had to run out to pick up some materials to give it a whirl.  I ended up building a bunch of buildings, a bunch of walkways, some pipeline, and some scatter terrain.  I also did up two boxes as stackable "tiers" for some extra elevation.  Two are done the same colour as the buildings and the other two are darker without any doorways or ladders, meant to just give the table some additional height.

I used some hexagoner plastic pieces to add ladders, doors and hatches to the nesting boxes, sprayed them a rusty colour and drybrushed them silver.  I also used popsicle sticks to add some detail to the nesting boxes and then sprayed them grey and used the textured spray paint I used on the brewhouse bash board.  For the pipelines I just used the tubes from tinfoil, for the walkways I used plastic canvas to put some "grate" texture, for the scatter terrain I just sprayed a bunch of spare hexagoner bits and glued them onto CD's that had the texture spray.

As I built up a bundle of ideas (like the pipeline, scatter terrain, bridges/walkways, etc.) I decided I had other ideas I wanted to implement for my own "pack and play" so I ended up making this a "housewarming" gift for my buddy Mike from shiftedmatrix.com - he's spent a year renovating the old house they bought and it's very near our house. You may recall he's the one I played serious necromunda sessions with in the past so hopeful this will mean starting that up again :)

Here's the total painting points awarded for this effort.  The entire thing packs up into a single medium sized plastic box for easy storage.

necromunda in a box (160)
2 small buildings (10)
3 medium buildings (30)
4 large building (80)
1 wide walkways (2)
6 long walkways (12)
4 scatter debris (8)
2 building extensions (6)
2 long pipelines (8)
2 short pipelines (4)

new necromunda photos + deadzone rebs proxies

I've been updating my GWpertinent forces pages with new pics. I am still working on a large album for my Novamarines as I want them well documented before I sell or trade them off. Other than that I have mostly focused on necromunda stuff since they have low model count and usually I don't have many gang pictures.

I've also recently been trying to figure out what I can use to proxy a Rebs faction in deadzone until I get the actual figures assembled.

Here's the limited edition Bonnie Annerson bounty hunter...  a few shots so you can see the mask. Not sure what made me paint the mask that way, and I definitely wish I hadn't done so many funky colours on her pistol, but I do still love the base with it's sewing pin mushrooms and green ooze. She could easily stand in for the Rebs leader.

I recently updated my Spyrers page with a slew of new pics. I can easily use the Yelds as Kraaw warriors and was thinking the Orrus would be suitable as Grogans - would probably need to pick one weapon type per game to not be confusing.

I've also updated my Escher gang page with some photos. Gangers with basic rifle weapons can easily be human rebs. I can't imagine using that many humans that these six gangers wouldn't be enough.

Finally I've got some spore mines I painted up a while ago to use along with some expanded Wyrd rules by Anthony Case as Lashoaters - I could see these counting as drones pretty easily.

Unfortunately for me, I haven't collected a lot of alien type figures so my rebs gang would be pretty bland - currently I'd look at a LOTR troll as a Teraton but not sure I can bring myself to do that! Anyways would be enough to have a game and get a feel for their battle cards deck and some missions at least.

Minis Painted for Me!

Well I have been focusing on building some more units to send to Ricalope thanks to getting back my first box of Flesh Tearers and getting a game of 6th edition in.  I have been getting those figs varnished - and writing rosters for the upcoming Lakeside blood bowl tournament.  However a pleasant surprise was posted on my facebook this morning - my buddy Dan (who will unfortunately have to miss this tournament) has finished painting up a spire brat for my ever growing gang - and that reminded me I STILL owe Paul of The Man Cave a photo posted of his contribution to the cause!  So I got off my backside and snapped a quick pic of his brat as well as one painted by Mik over at Miks Minis.  Shown in order received...
a ginger brat from Paul @ The Man Cave
A ginger haired brat inspired by the man himself, I love the job he's done on the power sword! Of course if you've seen my Novamarines you will also know I am a fan of quartered schemes.
a dark reaper'esque brat from Mik @ Miks Minis
Mik chose to do this harly (I believe it's properly called a Death Jester?) up in a scheme very similar to the old 'Eavy Metal scheme used on the Eldar dark reapers.
a "Mardi Gras" brat by my buddy Dan
Dan told me he took inspiration from "Mardi Gras" for his brat.  I love the way the green mask stands out on this mini.

Terrain: Necromunda Walkways pt7 (last)

The final post!  A week of necromunda terrain photos has come to an end.  I'm sure you'll be seeing more of these once we get some games started back up again.  So the final step after the weathering powders was a very light to light spray of black paint to give a soot effect.  I held the can pretty far from the pieces so it wouldn't just paint all over everything but give a nice dotted effect.  Between the weathering powder and this spray, it really helped to pull all the disparate parts of these terrain pieces together.

back
I also gave the undersides a much heavier spray.  Yes you mostly can't see the bottoms of steps and such, but in necromunda you are often leaning over to get a model's eye view and I couldn't put up with the thought that the bottoms of the steps would look perfectly clean.  This was a quick way to resolve that and it added a bit of extra depth to the soot being sprayed from a couple angles.  Then all it needed was sealing, and a quick touch up of water effects over the blood and they were done.

Terrain: Necromunda Walkways pt6

Close to the light at the end of the tunnel now.  The pieces were painted & washed, suitably cluttered and had some rubble & blood effects.  The second last step (I'm not counting sealing, that was going to be required anyways for terrain this nice!) involved applying some weathering powders to give some rust effects.  I ended up cheaping out a bit on this step as apparently it's better practice to use a few different shades of the powders to really get the best effect, but I only started reading about using them after picking up a single pot and I was impatient so one colour would have to be enough.  Here's the final large walkway piece.

Applying the weathering powders was fun and easy.  I highly recommend using some rubbing alcohol as your "binding" agent (binding in quotes as you could still brush it off, but it held it well enough that it didn't all spray away under a coat of varnish) - I tried a few different methods I found online and determined that combining two of them really did well for me.  In future I will test with using one colour per method to see which works best.  Method one is apply some powder dry and then use the end of a brush (not the brush end) to drop some rubbing alcohol above the powder and let it run down.  Method two is once you have that wet streak - get some powder and kinda flick it off your brush onto the wet part.  Always do this over some paper so you can kinda save the powder.  You won't save it all and I just threw it into a "shit mix" of flock that I throw any kind of random flock bits into.  I suspect it will work best with a darker colour using method one and a lighter colour for method two but I could be wrong.

Terrain: Necromunda Walkways pt5

Now these pieces were starting to come together.  All the junk piles and miscellaneous crap made them look busier and would also really influence the amount of cover provided from various angles.  I used various types of flock and foliage in certain places (tried to keep the foliage to a minimum) which was especially helpful in hiding the pennies used to weigh down the pieces.  This had the added benefit of avoiding the "clean" look.  Even though there was a bunch of junk around, if there wasn't any dirt or rubble it might still seem a bit too put together.  Here's another one of the small "gangways" which have steps that will allow gangers to get up the walkways from the ground floor.

left side

I also decided to put a bit of blood splatter on each piece, some places it was obvious (like on this one, the serrated edge of that giant gear doesn't look very nice!) and on others I used it where the piece was starting to look a little plain.  Basically painted some red down and gave it some washes with red and brown inks, and then used some water effects to give it a glistening effect.

Terrain: Necromunda Walkways pt4

After getting these all assembled, sprayed metallic and washed with inks - they still looked really clean and not very "underhive". So I decided I needed to add some junk to give them character. Here's one of the smaller what I call "gangways" - not sure why I've given it that name but just to differentiate from the walkways (still not digging the "catwalk" term)
left side
right side
What I did was take a bunch of various bits I had collected for making terrain and while I was spraying the trophies for the Canadian Open this year - I left them in a box behind what I was spraying.  So all the bits got some spray from gold, silver, bronze, and red.  Then I gave them a quick spritz with some grey and necrotic flesh.  Some got some green wash and some got some blue wash.  I mixed up these bits and glued them on, along with some bits of cloth and bits of bamboo sticks.

Terrain: Necromunda Walkways pt3

I used one of the shorter set of structure bits to make a long and low walkway for this piece.  Once I had all the pieces assembled, my next step was to spray them all with the army painter metallic paint.  After that I used a mixture of the soft tone and strong tone inks - also from army painter to wash over all the pieces.  Some pieces got just soft tone, some got just strong and some got a mix.

right side
This was the piece where I tried using a cut up longer railing and I ended up having to rip it off and use one of the actual laser cut smaller railings because it would have interfered with the connectors.  The balance of this piece also (along with the last piece) convinced me I needed some sort of weight along the bottom to make sure any heavy models wouldn't tip it over, so there are some pennies glued in inconspicuous areas.

Terrain: Necromunda Walkways pt2

Here is another piece of the necromunda walkway scenery I have been working on this year.  I bought a couple sets of Micro Art Studio "catwalk set" made of laser cut HDF - funny name - makes me think of this.  I think it may have been more flexible if I left all the stairs separate and space to attach them, but at the same time it would also make setup take a lot longer and there would be the possibility of damage occurring while putting the table together.  So for the most part I assembled each piece with one set of stairs attached.

back left
Assembly was pretty quick and easy.  White glue was all that was really required.  You do need to be a bit careful, as I did break one piece just from pressing down too hard on it to try and pop it into place, but overall they went together really well.  The one thing I will mention about assembling them is I tried cutting up the long railings to use as short railings that would look a bit different, but you need to pay attention to where you will be connecting them.  They came with special connectors as well which are handy to string a bunch together temporarily.

Terrain: Necromunda Walkways pt1

I'm going to take some advice and split up these posts to stretch this accomplishment out.  Late last year we began talking about playing some more necromunda again this year.  The one thing I definitely was missing from my scenery collection is enough walkways to easily connect all the rest of my necromunda terrain and provide alternate routes for juves and gangers to traverse the gaming area.  More walkways will also help to fill a full 8'x4' table so 2 games can go on at once!

Here is the first piece.  As I go through the posts I will explain how I got them to this point.

These took significantly more work than I had anticipated to really give them some character.  I am really happy with the final outcome though and it is a very large project complete which is always positive.

converted Redemptionist gang

Here are some conversions I whipped up from the dark vengeance cultist miniatures. As soon as I saw these awesome models I knew some would be great necromunda figures. I'm trying to make sure I don't duplicate any figures as necromunda really needs characterful models to ensure they are distinguishable from each other.  I plan to leave the chaos symbols on these guys, they will just be a corrupted redemptionist gang. I am currently trying to decide what paint scheme to follow.  A dark/flame look is what I'm going for.  Something similar to a model I painted for Dave at minipainting4free.  16 models should be plenty for a necromunda gang.
two deacons with flamers, plus a priest with hand flamer & sword
These are the most important gang members.  I converted the guy with the hooded gas mask to be carrying a flamer (instead of chopping his hands, I just cut off the flamer nozzle and canister and converted his autogun) to be a second Deacon.  My priest I just armed with a converted hand flamer (from the rest of the flamer bits that were left from doing the servo-arm backpack conversion for my ravenwing techmarine) and the final one is unconverted with a different model of flamer.
my zealots, you can only use two but I wanted all three options
The zealots were all really fun to make.  The middle guy took quite a bit of conversion but the two on the ends were pretty simple conversions.  A simple weapon swap gave me a zealot with two flails, and a hand flamer turned the axe wielding cultist into a zealot with exterminator on double handed weapon.  The guy in the middle started out with an autogun, but I trimmed it off his left arm, and replaced the right hand with a hand from some empire figures.  I simply trimmed two chainsword blades and glued them together to make a ridiculously large evisterator with another hand flamer as exterminator.
crusaders with basic weapons (a couple with CC weapons too)
I converted a few of these guys. Far left was a simple shotgun replacement. For the model in the middle I took the shotgun from the priest and replaced the autopistol.    Back right I converted quite extensively; first a head swap with another cultist to make them both different, then added a maul and an autogun.  Last guy is just a simple head swap.
devotees (or crusaders) with CC weapons
The model on the left had the head swap applied, and switched which hands held which weapons.  He got a sword/blade as well - right at that size where it could be a knife or a sword which is always handy for necromunda.  Guy in the middle is a simple head swap (he has far right's head, while far right has a head from a swap above.  The two guys in the back are unconverted.

Spire Brat Pack: current status = 7 of ?

After receiving the latest Spire Brat (harlequin) back from G.N.O.M.E. over at Spaaaaccee Shaaarrrkkks! he suggested it was probably time for a group photo.  So here we go, straight from my display cabinet, on some of my sweet necromunda terrain.
love how unique they all are!!
From left to right, top to bottom;
  1. painted by arabianknight @ wee blokes
  2. painted by hakomike @ constantly risking obscurity
  3. painted by paintbrushturkey @ bartertown
  4. painted by bobbo.is.me @ mini painting for free
  5. painted by axt @ merry mayhem news
  6. painted by gnome @ spaaaaccee shaaarrrkkks!
  7. painted by abraxis @ merry mayhem news
I know there is one outstanding with paul @ the man cave, and another with mik @ miks' minis.

Huge thank you to everyone - I hope to get a big necromunda campaign running sometime around this summer and want to get these guys a piece of the action!!

Slow start to 2012...

and here's why....  we bought a house and moved in late December, so we have been getting settled.  the advantage is I now get a permanent hobby room/man cave. :)  Paul I'm sure you will approve!
front of room, with work/gaming table and shelves to left
will swap out monitor for big screen when ready

So, onto business;
* Part 1 is a pimp post I've owed the Oklahoma guys  (Steve @kilowog2814 & Scott @fatfinley)
the #1 Blood Bowl podcast....  with an Episode Zero!!
Orclahomabowl brought to you by the same gingers who host the latest Blood Bowl podcast - Both Down!
You can check out the preview post I put up here.  I got my dice in the mail last year before we moved, unfortunately just haven't had much chance for blogging or gaming.  They are pretty sweet dice though - also happy to mention the pre-registration dice for Orclahomabowl have sold out so I guess it's going to go off a smash!

* Part 2 is posting about more harlequins painted by others for my spire brats necromunda gang.

First up is a harlequin I received from arabianknight over at Wee Blokes last year as we were packing up to move, so I've had this guy for a while.  He also sent over a miniature for me to paint.  All I got to before packing everything up was the skin, but you can see that pic below.  I have some funky ideas about how to try painting some tartan plaid using washes for it.
loving the orange!!
I'm thinking plaid shorts!

Second up is the skaven miniature that hakomike sent over along with the gorgeously painted harlequin he did for me, which I've gushed about endlessly here.  I plan to use washes for this guys fur, and maybe skin - but then use more standard paints for his clothing to really achieve some depth.
still lots to do - lol!

Third up is some great news about another harlequin painted for my by G.N.O.M.E. over at Spaaaaccee Shaaarrrkkks!  He's finished up painting a harlequin for me, and is currently in process of thinking of something to send along for me to paint!
loving the paint scheme on this guy!!

Ooofff, that was longer than I thought - I will save the third part of "business" (my plans/thoughts for gaming & painting this year) for another post.  I do have the CCKO blood bowl tournament coming up in around 10 days so hopefully that will kick start the hobby-ing!

more painted stuff I had nothing to do with!!

Except providing the fig itself (in some cases!!)
left to right by; Axt, hakomike, AbraxiS
Here's a quick snap of three (count 'em, 3!) harlequins painted for me by others.  You can see who painted them in the caption, and likely know already - but in case you don't - the one in the middle I've posted about before, and was generously painted by Golden Daemon Winner Mike Howell (check out his blog / follow his twitter) and the others were generously painted by my good buddies AbraxiS (follow his twitter) & Axt from over at Merry Mayhem News. Thanks again Gents!!

These are added to my other two harlequins (1 needs some touching up) to form my Spire Brat pack for Necromunda (based on Anthony Cases rules). Five gives me a good start and considering how expensive their equipment is, could be enough for a whole gang - but if you know me at all I like choice!  There are at least four (count 'em 4!!!) harlequins out there around the world with some amount of paint on them and eventually headed for me!
Finally a special bonus was included in the package from those crazy Portuguese @ Merry Mayhem News.  Axt took it upon himself to build me a couple blood bowl counters/tokens.  I was surprised and excited to see there was more than the harlequins in the box that arrived.  The hand coming out of the ground even glows in the dark!  Am looking forward to using both of these at the upcoming blingtoof tournament here in Toronto (a goblin themed tournament where I am going to bring my undead with a few goblins, the orc counter will be my bribe!)
custom torne bane flaming ears counter & random orc-y counter
If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend trading some painting with people.  You end up with some pieces that are truly meaningful and have huge sentimental value, and you get the chance to paint up some stuff that may be outside your usual wheelhouse (I painted a cowboy and a "anime/manga" looking character for Dave of mini painting for free)

Currently on my dock, I have;
  • A goliath looking near future ganger type for arabianknight (from E4 miniatures I believe)
  • A zombie for Axts massive zombie collection (will be a "fan" of my Torne Bane Flaming Ears blood bowl team)
  • A skaven warplock engineer that arrived with the harlquin painted by Mike Howell.  Will definitely be using some staining methods for his fur!

Sentinel Squadron - what to do?

Well something a little off the beaten path today - I've had this squadron of sentinels for a while now, they came in a big batch of IG/SOB that I've pretty much traded/sold the rest away.  I've kept these guys as I'd envisioned using them as part of a small arbites 40K army (large arbites necromunda gang???)

With our plans to sell our current condo to buy a larger house, I'm currently packing away anything I know won't be used in the next 6 months or so.  Then I got to these bad boys.  It didn't take much work on my part to fix them up to the current (next tabletop worthy) condition, some decals and re-paint is about it.  They need their bases re-done as well.
1st squadron - armed w multi-lasers
My quandary is what to do with them?  To be honest I started to prefer a different colour for the arbites than all black (I particularly like a P3 paint called coal black and am thinking of using that for body armour and a white helmet scheme).  These guys would be too difficult to fix up to that standard.  I am debating between selling/trading them, or putting them up on ebay but with proceeds going to a charity - since the paint job is really pretty basic and I don't expect people would value them much - EXCEPT perhaps if the money was going to charity.  Let me know what you guys think - would you put in a decent bid on ebay for these guys knowing the money was going to a good cause?

necromunda at meeplemart

This past weekend I was able to join some buddies in playing some more necromunda! We had begun a new campaign this year (way back in April) but it kinda got put on hold while we all dealt with preparations for Astronomi-con Toronto 2011.

Last week they started playing again at another FLGS in Toronto called Meeplemart (we are quite lucky here in the GTA with many gaming stores) - I unfortunately was unable to attend last week and so was determined to make it this week.  My friend Mike did write up a small post with a pic of the table setup.

I had spoken with Steve the owner previously about running necromunda there and I had heard he'd built a large table full of terrain for Infinity, which definitely suited our necromunda needs pretty well!

Unfortunately I took about three pics and then forgot!  I'm going to blame my allergies which were terrible that day.  So here's the one good pic I have showing a bit of the terrain and my Escher clustered around trying to move in on Lorand's Arbites.
early in my game vs. the arbites
During this campaign, which I am terming (including Sunday) so far I am 4-0.  While earlier games successes were perhaps a bit less driven by fortune both of Sunday's wins were very jammy!

Game 1 vs. Lorands Arbites
  • choke grenades slowed me down and stunned my gang enough for Lorand to rack up some easy casualties.
  • first couple turns went quickly as we closed with each other, I was taking bottle tests though by turn four.
  • fortunate to get an open shot with my BS5 leader's meltagun on his Arbite Sergeant, forcing him to retire due to his injuries after the game.
  • meltagun leader also dropped his cyber-mastiff, the early expense of the meltagun is already paying off in spades, my leader gained two skill levels from this game alone!
  • Lorand failed his second bottle test while I had made at least 3-4 already by that time to give me a lucky win!
Game 2 vs. Darrins Orks (counts as Goliaths)
  • Darrin selected hit & run for this scenario.  I ended up with 5 gang members to start and he got 6.
  • my deployment definitely left something to be desired, first turn he took out my heavy stubber (who got a chest wound and is now T2 :-@ grrr)
  • my plasmagun heavy smoked a juve at close range before getting wasted herself (in addition to my leader) - for a ork/goliath gang Darrins shooting sure was deadly!
  • lady luck smiled on my first round of reinforcements though and they arrived on the table edge very close to two of Darrins gang, scragging them both (one by shooting and one in close combat)
  • lady luck waved as well with my leader jumping up reducing her wound to a flesh wound!
  • Darrin chose to bottle at that point as taking my leader out was his objective and he only had 2 models left and I would continue to get reinforcements.
Looking forward to more games at Meeplemart on the excellent terrain.  I will try to get better pictures next time.

Necromunda free for all!

Got my brother Sebastian and a couple other friends around to start getting ourselves back into necromunda (older necromunda batreps here).  Due to time we just had a huge free for all on a 4' x 4' table.  We decided to use table corners (basically you got a 12" square in each corner). Treacherous Conditions roll was 51 (Carrion Bats) which meant after setting up, every model had to take a Ld check or be pinned (possibly falling from ledges).  Lorand also started with a Ratskin scout who owed an honour debt to the enforcer sergeant from the event cards we got.

Lorand rolled highest and got to pick table corner first - he chose the corner with the power plant.  I'll apologize right now, I don't have many pics of Lorand's corner as it was a little awkward to get to being on the other side of the table (plus his minis weren't painted so it ruined the fantasy of it all  - LOL inside joke!) Here's a pic just to see his table corner but it's actually from much later in the game.
enforcer corner (after a couple turns unfortunately)
Sebastian picked next and setup in the corner with the necromunda building with the tall vent stack.
spyrer setup - sorry only pic and it was blurry
I setup in the emptiest corner but which was fairly close to the imperial firebase.
escher setup
Mike setup in the last corner with some of the octagonal and triangular necromunda scenery.
delaque setup (more are just behind that piece of card scenery)
We rolled to see who went first and decided it was just clockwise after that, Mike won the roll and I went last.  We did the Carrion Bats test before each person took their turn. The only one able to do anything other than move closer in the first turn was Mike (he pinned my juve with a shot).  Unfortunately for him, his heavy was the only model to fail it's Ld check, he then fell all the way to the ground from 6" up.  He outrageously survived completely unharmed as I rolled a 1 to wound.  Lorand had 2 enforcers pinned, Sebastian had 1 yeld pinned and I had 2 gangers and a juve pinned (same juve Mike pinned - lol).

Second turn, Mike's heavy ran back to position while the rest took 2 of my escher man down and missed or pinned while shooting the enforcers.  Lorand's enforcers began the smack down, his heavy taking an escher OOA and his sergeant capping a delaque juve with his plasma pistol.  Sebastian's spyrers manuvered around and a yeld took the enforcer heavy man down. I managed to pass my bottle test (seriously? bottle test turn 2!) put some girls on overwatch near the down girls and continued to consolidate my position.  Some pics from turn two below.
Mike: "stay there this time!" + 2 capped escher
enforcers shotguns pinned, the sergeants plasma pistol took the juve man down
yeld wasted the enforcer heavy
Turn three things started to get heated.  Mike's delaques were busy, taking the ratskin man down, pinning the enforcer leader and his heavy pilled the stubber rounds into the cyber mastiff - but Lorand made both 5+ saves and the cyber mutt shrugged it off.  The enforcers passed their bottle test, the mastiff charged a delaque - only to get beaten down in close combat, the sergeant stood up and capped another delaque, then both the heavy and ratskin went from man down to OOA (worst time for double 6's!)  At this point we are all going to be taking bottle tests every turn except for the Sebastian so I used my event card "unsafe ladder" on one of his yelds, causing just a S3 hit but it was enough to pin him and give him a flesh wound - damn so close! His malcadon charged the enforcers of whom one was on overwatch - again doing just enough to pin him and cause a flesh wound.  So Sebastian was still safe from bottle tests even though 2 spyrers had been hurt.  I passed my bottle test to have another pretty dismal turn, missing with my shooting, though 1 ganger did recover from man down to flesh wound - woo hoo, a temporary break in bottle tests for me!
delaque heavy opens up on the cyber-mastiff in the distance
Mike passed his bottle test to start turn four, and proceeded to waste Lorands sergeant, and a couple gangers recovered to flesh wounds.  Lorand made his bottle test having only 4 guys left, but failed twice to hit the pinned malcadon lying in front of him.  He had some dismal luck where his cyber mutt charged a delaque ganger and got scragged for it's trouble.  Then he lucked out as Sebastian failed to escape pinning with the malcadon, though he did charge and take out an enforcer with his S4 jakara.  His yeld then fired at another enforcer, missing - so Sebastian played his event card "toxic pipe", rolling 3 S4 automatic hits with NO armour save from the pipe that exploded above the enforcer.  He then rolled two 2's and a 1 to fail completely in wounding the enforcer, though he was pinned with no armour save available.  In my turn I finally got my first wounding hit of the game, with my juve taking down a delaque juve with her pistol at long range. Then before my CC phase was over, Mike used his event card "necromundan rat" to attack my shotgun ganger on overwatch.  We both fluffed out single attack dice roll (both 1's) so due to charging and it's insane WS of 4 (yes, a rat - WS4!) Mike got two hits on me, which failed to wound but did remove my overwatch.
cyber-mastiff charges but gets smoked in HtH
enforcers luck out that the malcadon didn't escape being pinned
Turn five Mike the wound machine (I think he had at least two gangers with 3 wounds caused each this game) though he only pinned the spyrers on the bridge fighting the enforcers, ran a shotgun ganger up and took a sneaky jakara man down.  Lorand passed his bottle test and continued his ineffective shooting by missing the pinned jakara right next to his enforcers (three 1's in a row!!). Game changed at this point as unfortunately for him, Sebastian failed the very first bottle test he had to make - brutal!!  My escher managed to wound another delaque with a shotgun blast in my turn, and my other ganger who'd been crawling along 2" man down all game recovered to a flesh wound.
escher have secured the firebase and a delaque gets taken down with a shotgun blast
Mike failed his bottle roll on turn 6, moving the turn quickly to Lorand who passed but failed to hit anyone.  My same shotgun ganger who smoked the delaque last turn did the same to another enforcer, causing the last enforcer to break and flee!  We called it a bottle and a day.  In the end the early damage Mike did to me made me play cautious allowing him to get to grips with Lorand a bit more, and my meltagun armed leader worried Sebastian enough he kind of left me alone.  It's funny the only person to actually finish the job and take one of my gangers OOA was Lorand who was setup in the far corner of the table away from me!
how the west (corner) was won!
