Got the Raptor Legion scouts finished up. I used Iyanden Darksun foundation on the holsters and pouches - I think it works well as a "coloured" fabric. The yellow helps to keep the number of colours down and it worked with a single wash of Devlan Mud.
Added the usual decals - I found some old one's from the imperial guard chimera sheet - they will suit for the right hand shoulder pad to identify the squad (even though I doubt I will ever do any more scouts for this chapter).
Technically they need a quick swirl of coloured wash on the bases and sealing but that will get done when the humidity drops a bit - lots of rain here the past few days! 5 more painting points - definitely on a roll this year!

WIP Raptor Legion CC scouts
One of several projects I have ongoing at this time is getting these Raptor Legion scouts painted up. Our house is quite dry and I am starting to find paints dried out - I didn't want this to happen with the last of my gryphonne sepia so I decided to get these guys painted sooner rather than later.
One difference from the rest of my Raptor Legion marines is these guys have some cloth - to keep a limited palette I decided to use dheneb stone for the cloth similarly to the weapons. They are also covered in holsters and pouches - this is where I need your help. Should I do those dheneb stone as well or add another colour to the mix - a leather type is my thought. Opinions?

Landspeeder Storm + magnetized riders (TFP entry #3)
While gearing up for Astronomi-con, I needed a couple more bolter scouts to save some cash I magnetized the landspeeder storm riders. I was hoping to get a second missile launcher armed squad but ended up without enough points for the list, but I had already built him. Took some monumental effort to paint another Novamarine so soon after painting huge batches of them, but just for TFP I made it happen so I could enter this squad to the competition.
I dunno if it was the best plan but I thought of the missile launcher armed scout hiding behind a little tree - it goes pretty well with the crawling scout below.
Also for the guy who was hanging off the side, since I magnetized his hand, I took a melta bomb and magnetized the bottom - he could now easily be a sergeant. Aka the dancing scout.
Here are the two seated scouts. One I put on a stump and the other on a pile of logs. Everyone loves the guy sitting on the logs.
So that's a total of four scouts, 3 bolters and a missile launcher. I put some extra effort into the base for the storm since I picked up some water effects. It actually turned out pretty well, though I'm not sure if it was adding wash or paint to the mix or the dryness of the house but it cracked a lot as it dried.
I ended up fixing this sergeant up. Being armed with a combi-weapon and a chainsword was pretty silly so I just gave him a bolt pistol in his other hand. I think he would definitely make a useful sergeant for this squad. But he was painted before the competition started, same the the crawling scout I just wanted you guys to see them.
These are the two guys I used to bulk out the squad (since I didn't use the missile launcher at all) so I would ask you to base the judgement of the squad on these guys even though I think the other two are cooler. I was originally going to build one more bolter armed guy with a cloak and then the storm riders could count as either with or without since theirs are rolled up - but I think I will probably just go back and add cloaks to these guys when I can stand to paint more Novamarines.
Hope you guys enjoyed this - they were definitely fun to model and paint.

Iron Knights chapter
Just for something to do I took some quick pics of what I have built so far for my Iron Knights chapter. Plan is to use the BT codex, all marines will get tabards, painted with personal heraldry. Each "neophyte" (or squire as I like to think of it) will have the same colours as their "initiate" (or knight.. duh) but no icon, just the chapter symbol on a shoulderpad. I used the old RT001 arms for the squires to make use of the studded left shoulderpad. The knights will get weapons of all kinds, not chainswords (like flails, etc. - just to look cool). Also need to decide if I'm happy with red/yellow for the colours of the heraldry. What do you think?

Novamarines painting update
I've been really pushing to make sure I have these guys all ready for next friday (final day of the Two Headed Dragon tale of 4 gamers competition). The scouts are pretty much done. The heavy flamer terminator is to the same standard as the first five, and I've begun filing in details on the termies. The librarian has seen a lot of the brush - though I still haven't even done any serious highlighting. The wounded veteran objective is pretty much done (with battle damage!! I think I did a pretty good job on the damage to his armour) but needs a bit of blood pooling on the ground from his blown off hand.

Novamarines painting update
Well I've managed to get some pics.
Ranged scouts with bolters, missile launcher.

Ranged scouts with sniper rifles.

Additionally, here's a pic of the heavy flamer converted from AoBR terminator as well as my wounded veteran objective marker.

Weak on the updates
So I realize I've been lax on the updates, lack of camera = lack of photos.. So I figured I'd fill you in on what I've been up to in the meantime..
- I completed painting the ranged Novamarines scouts (6 with bolters, sniper rifles and missile launcher), this was for the Tale of 2HD Gamers competition so the motivation was there. Going in on Friday.
- I also built a 3rd objective for this army. It's a wounded veteran marine with a broken leg and blown off arm - throwing that last ditch grenade. I actually really liked how this came out and am pumped to paint it once I get a chance to do some priming.
- I've been investigating card & scratch built models. I did up a very simple rhino I printed on card stock with the Space Sharks logo. I actually printed 8 so I could use them as rhinos for a battle company in Apocalypse and thereby use my magnetized rhinos as tanks. I also did a couple terrain pieces, a very simple & cheap gun battery (battery is card, glued onto an upside down small paper plate, which was painted and flocked) that probably only took 20 minutes of working time, and a nicer strongpoint which was from a template and built into a hill with some camouflage netting. More card related stuff to come.
- Speaking of which, I took the imperial command 40K markers from rocketshipgames.com and created a reverse side with the Novamarines logo. I plan to make a set of counters for each army.
- I did some more details on the Novamarines captain, terminator sergeant and deathwatch marine. Mostly playing with painting the power swords, and I have an idea for how I want to paint the librarians force rod.
- Then I got bored without stuff I really wanted to paint primed, so I built the 5 assault marines that came in the battle force box I picked up. I've built them as Raptors, which I plan to build up led by Shrike. The sergeant has a lightning claw, bolt pistol & combat shield, he also got an older metal jump pack so I could save a plastic one for magnetizing the Salamanders deathwatch flamer. One has a flamer (or will once I have a flamer to give him) and I also ended up deciding that the power fist veteran I have will lead a tactical squad of Raptors due to all the icons modeled on.
- Finally since I'm still waiting to prime I've been painting up my blood bowl troll. He's mostly done as his stone skin was done with much drybrushing and washes.

Novamarines - starting to look like an army!!
This army is comprised of;
AoBR set
AoBR WD Terminator
1 of each Scout box (needed more troops)
1 Librarian
1 Extra snap together marine
Some palm tree bits from 3rd edition box for the extra scout.
The deathwatch marine I made with bits I already had, though I did purchase a deathwatch conversion kit with the Crusade Army in mind.
If I max everything out including using Tigurius and Telion 'counts as' it comes out to 1381 points. I think that's quite impressive considering the low amount of money I put into it (which of course just funds the next project ;) ). I plan to scratchbuild a couple drop pods as the angular design should keep it fairly simple, but that's about all I plan to include for these guys, the Novamarines are not supposed to have fought together as a chapter for millenia. With the addition of an extra model to each squad, I've given the army major flexibility in it's composition per game.
Gonna have to get cracking on the drop pods, as the Tale of 2HD Gamers finishes in two months - and my goal was to use the competition as the timeline to FINISH my Novamarines. I think having the first chapter in the crusade army done will be great motivation to keep at it.
Here's a pic of everything minus 5 scouts who I still need to work on their GS camo cloaks and a libby who I need to convert to have a force staff.

Terminators including bonus AoBR termie from WD converted with Heavy Flamer (in progress) as well as objective marker.

The ranged scouts. Bolter with GW camo cloak body can be used as regular bolter scout, sergeant with bolter or Telion.

Some close ups of the crawling scout I made with the extra body. Not the best but definitely gave me some ideas for other stuff.
